Proposed Amendments to the
Road Traffic Special Speed Limits Bye‐laws 2018
Rural Local Road Default Speed Limits
In Accordance with the Provisions of The Road Traffic Acts 1961 - 2024 the Default speed limit for Rural Local Roads in Mayo will be reduced from 80 km/h to 60 km/h in the interest of Road Safety.
The 'Guidelines for Setting and Managing Speed Limits in Ireland' gives guidance on the appropriate standard a Rural Local Road should meet to warrant a speed limit other than the Default 60 km/h.
A Schedule of Proposed Amendments (with location maps) to the abovementioned Bye-laws concerning Rural Local Road Default Speed Limits and Special Speed Limits has been prepared.
It will be available for inspection during normal office hours (9:30am-1pm and 2pm-4:30pm) Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) from Wednesday, 24th of July 2024, to Wednesday 28th of August 2024 (inclusive) at the following locations:
